We started our homestead in 2015 after many years of living in Syracuse and running a successful natural parenting, retail business. With four young children, the realization that our growing family needed more space, a healthier lifestyle, and of course more animals led us to start our small farm.
After we purchased the property, we added chickens, bees, and a couple of goats. After a couple of years, we decided to add a barn, more animals, and in 2021, a high tunnel - extending our growing season. Our newest additions to the farm are a small herd of miniature donkeys. Early in 2022 we started breeding and will have a variety of babies listed for sale.
Our children are very active in the day-to-day operations of the homestead - collecting eggs, feeding animals, and even harvesting crops. As a family, we enjoy spending time with the animals, camping, and traveling.
We also have 2 dogs, 3 indoor cats, 2 barn cats, and 2 guinea pigs that keep the farm lively and entertaining.
Our farm has always been a small family homestead, but the name has changed over the years. Since the mid-1850s this farm has been home to several different families and types of animals and practices.
It wasn't until the mid-1900s, when the Robinson family moved in, did the farm take on the name of Robin Hill Farm. We like to think it has to do with the large influx of robins in the spring, actually, the name was an abbreviation of their family name.
We still keep in touch with their family sending them updates and pictures, doing our best to keep the property up to the same standards that they held, hopefully, what every family has held.
In 2020 we were contacted by the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. They had information on a local man named Plymouth Freeman who was believed to have lived on or near our property prior to the home being built.
We were able to celebrate in 2022 with the installation and dedication of a blue Pomeroy Foundation historical marker. Over 100 people attended from all around central New York along with the 45th President General of the National Society DAR.
